Our Journey
In 2020, we purchased what was then a bungalow, initially intending to renovate and sell it for profit. However, as we undertook the extensive renovation project, which included adding a second floor, additional bedrooms, and bathrooms, we fell in love with the spacious, open-plan house we created and decided to keep it, giving rise to The Sand House.
From Renovation to Holiday Home
During the renovation, an agent from Awaze Vacation Rentals (which includes Cottages.com, Hoseasons, and Blue Chip Holidays) visited unsolicited and suggested that our home would make an excellent holiday rental. Encouraged by this idea, we opened The Sand House to guests in our first season. It was a success, and in our second year, we also listed the property on Airbnb, recognising its dominance in the private holiday home sector. This strategic move led to even more bookings and a highly successful second season.
Enhancements and Amenities
For our third season, we added a gym in the garden, available to guests for a small additional fee (£10 per day, with a maximum fee of £50 for a seven-night stay, effectively giving two days free). This amenity has proven to be surprisingly popular, further enhancing the appeal of The Sand House as a holiday destination.
Our Team
We employ a holiday home management company to efficiently handle the daily operations of The Sand House, ensuring thorough cleaning between stays and providing a 'Welcome Hamper' for each guest. Additionally, we have a gardener who maintains the garden between stays. Our owner and his wife, Jane, personally manage all bookings, special requests, and guest communications. We are always available to be contacted via mobile phone, WhatsApp, text, or email, according to our guests' preferences.
